Use AX in Slack
Install the AX bot in your Slack workspace, link your account, and ask @ax in channels and DMs.
@ax is the AX chat agent in your own Slack workspace. Mention it in a channel or send it a direct message, and it answers about your organization's experiments, runs, reports and Context. It is a different thing from the shared Slack channel where you talk with the 514 team.
Install AX in your workspace
- Open Integrations → Slack in the app and find the Add AX to your Slack card, or select the Slack button in the AX chat panel header.
- Select Add to Slack and approve the install in Slack. Your Slack workspace may require an admin to approve new apps.
- Back in the app, confirm the link between your Slack account and your AX account.
- If you belong to more than one AX organization, pick the one @ax should act for in this workspace. With one organization, it is picked for you.
The organization you pick becomes the workspace's default organization. Only a member of an organization can make it the default. To change it later, contact Fiveonefour support.
Link your Slack account
Each person links their own Slack account to their own AX account. Linking lets @ax act as you, with your access to your organization's data. The installer is linked during the install. Everyone else gets a one-time link from @ax the first time they need one.
The link page shows the Slack workspace and account you are about to link. If the Slack account's email does not match a verified email on your AX account, the page warns you and asks you to confirm. After linking, the Slack account gets a notice and you get an email. Unlink an account at any time from the same page, under Linked Slack accounts.
Read-only and write requests
| You are | @ax can |
|---|---|
| Linked, and a member of the organization @ax acts for | Read and change data, with your own permissions |
| Not linked, or not a member of that organization | Answer read-only questions about that organization |
When you ask for a change without a link, @ax replies with a link prompt that only you can see.
Use @ax in channels
- @ax answers only in channels it has been added to, and in direct messages. Add it to a channel with
/invite @ax. - Mention
@axwith your question. It replies in a thread, so everyone in the channel can see the answer. Messages about linking or access are visible only to you. - In a channel, @ax acts for the workspace's default organization.
- Shared channels with people outside your workspace (Slack Connect) do not use the workspace default. @ax answers there only after Fiveonefour connects that channel to an organization.
